Que Bravo

Keep it Moving. Its been a while since i have updated so i am just playing catch up over here.

Latin Jawns Part 2 is the works of Joe Bravo.
Lowrider Oldies enthusiasts all know the song "Its Ok".
But going deeper into his album "Please Call me Baby"(1970 Certron) you hear the many styles of Joe Bravo.
Its littered with everything from funky/soul jams to straight up Tejano Ballads.
Heres a couple highlights from record.

"Think It Over" - Joe Bravo

"Again" - Joe Bravo

"Its Ok" - Joe Bravo

My Favorite Jackson 5 song

The homie Nuntida and I were discussing this the other day and i promised i would pass this song along.
The first time i got put up on this song was by a mix that Kevin Beacham made years ago(Thanks Kevin!).
I think its a wonderful song thats a little slept on.I certainly slept on it until i listened to that mix for a whole summer.

"Reach In" Jackson 5 ( Third Album - 1970 - Motown)

Latin Jawns

excerpt from Maker's blog:

Some Latin Jawns freshly uploaded for your listening pleasure. I picked four that each had a different style but were really great songs.

Orquestra Los Melodico "La Murga" (197? on Discolando 7')

Thi is a cover of the Hector Lavoe classic. Still very similar to the original version except for the added swing. The horns are recorded exceptionally well. One of my Favorite songs.

Orquestra Los Melodico - "La Murga"

Willie Rosario "Amor en Serio" (1978 on TH 7')

This is a dance floor grinder only made for the right amount of grown and sexiness to handle. "If i was lying i would be laughing" is what they are chanting on the hook, trying to explain to the
sexys that the game they spit is serious.

Willie Rosario - "Amor En Serio"

Katunga laid it down proper with the hit "Palo Bonito" (1975 on Arcano 7')
Dance floor to B-Boy circle, this cut is full of energy but never looses its groove.
This version is a different mix than the release on RCA (w/ b-side "Oh Cherie")

Katunga - "Palo Bonito"

Los Socios Del Ritmo "No Te Olvidare" (197? on Parnaso 7')

Very Funky Mexican love songs that don't sound like every other Angeles Negros Beatnut sample are treats in my book (and by book i mean blog). I kiiiiidddd! This is a very funky cut with some great
organ work.

Los Socios Del Ritmo - "No Te Olvidare"

Wahonka

Woooh! I totally finished the internets today!Multiple updates today.

Wahonka is a love album. A love destroyed by a girl's disapproving parents. A love so strong that it will be reborn in another time and another place. Ed Wahonka , a Shoshonee Indian from New Jersey , tells this story in his songs.Born in 1943 , he started playing and singing with his own band at the age of fourteen.
Listen to Ed Wahonka's love story.

Thats what the back of the record reads.Self-titled native soul for your face.
No year on the Super K label.

Steady Wailin Sid

Steady Wailin Sid - Spirit of 76 with Love
The extremely raer Indiana Soul LP from 1976 on Rocksteady Records out of Evansville,Ind.Not to much info on this one.I have seen it on a couple walls and indiana45s.com .
I know Sid released a few 45's and thats about it for the Lp's.
On the heater chart i would say its about a 5 out of ten.Not the greatest album back to front but this song Mechanic it one of my favorites.

I Uploaded a few for the people of the internets. My Favs on the record.

Mechanic - Steady Wailin Sid

Spirit of 76 - Steady Wailin Sid

When Times Were Good - Steady Wailin Sid

Kaplan Brothers - Nightbird

The Kaplan Brothers - Nightbird has been one of my favorite records for a long time now.
There is really no explaining it.Just imagining the trio in the studio (or garage/basement) making this record enters my thoughts into a faraway land of dreams , mystery , and wedding singer weekends. This Private jump off is a little off the radar although i have heard a few people talk about it.I even heard they may have been a hotel lounge act from IL or Mich.
The vocals are so intense they are almost absurd...you can't believe your ears. I think thats why i love it!Dude almost sounds like Cher sometimes , its weird.Cool b&w psych art design cover, too, issued as a private press on their Quinton Record Co. no number sometime in the '70s. DL Cover art here

Just gotta hear it for yourself.I recorded a few songs from the record.they all blend into themselves but i cut them up into separate tracks so they will end suddenly only to begin on the next song. I am going to post up some more favorites real soon.

Vodka and Caviare - Kaplan Brothers

Epitaph - Kaplan Brothers

Cassettes Won't Listen Remix

First post!
Due to many requests i decided to start a blog to post music and updates on whats going on.

My guy introduced me to the music of Cassettes Won't Listen and asked me to do a remix for the new single Paper Float. The Original is very hypnotizing and here is my take on it.

http://www.cassetteswontlisten.com/paper_float_maker.mp3

Here is some more info and the original version.

Cassettes Won't Listen's second installment of 'Paper Float' remixes is mastered this week by Chicago DJ and Hip Hop producer Maker. One third of the hip hop group Glue, Maker has added more hip hop to CWL's electronica sound by simplifying the back ground melody and focusing on harder drums. More remixes are still in the works and will be up every week on CWL's MySpace page until the March 11th release of Small- Time Machine. Look out for future remixes by Mad Decent (Diplo and DJA), Blockhead, Scott Thorough, and more.

Check out and download the 'Paper Float' Maker remix here:

http://www.myspace.com/cassetteswontlisten

CWL SXSW dates:

3-12 - SXSW day stage (convention center)

3-12 - Brooklyn bands day party

3-13 - The Warehouse

3-15 - University of Texas

3-15 - Lamberts

CWL NYC shows:

Feb 23 – 205 Club

Feb 27 – Apple Store – Roosevelt Field Mall/ Long Island
